Software Developers Prefer Co-Star®
Software developers prefer Co-Star
because we provide so many simple programmer hooks to our powerful
document management features. Retrieving a document from a ten million
document repository, for example, can be accomplished with a single
Co-Star command issued in a variety of ways:
-
By executing a
COM/ActiveX method from any ActiveX friendly environment
-
By issuing a DDE
command directly from an existing application.
-
By writing an
ASCII command set to a queue to be processed by a Co-Star service.
Co-Star can provide
a simple and straightforward interface that is best suited to your
environment.
COM/ActiveX, Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)
Co-Star communicates
with other Windows applications using simple COM/ActiveX or DDE methods.
If your development environments can support these platforms, you can
easily add document imaging functions directly into your application.
Co-Star Host Support
Co-Star
provides a simple straightforward interface to its command set. This
gives a wide range of platforms access to the full power of Co-Star
without requiring additional hardware or platform specific API's. In the
case of minicomputers and mainframes, this access is usually
accomplished using functions built into client software which
communicates to the host system. Since Co-Star runs on Windows
workstations, a terminal emulator or client-server application is used
to interface the host to the workstation user. We have worked with the
following host client platforms: Rumba, Reflection,
Attachmate,
Visual Basic,
Accuterm, TinyTerm,
Host Access,
wIntegrate, SB Client,
Via Systems and many more...
Any application
using a client platform that supports VBA or VB-Like macros can also be
quickly linked to a Co-Star repository.
ADO/ODBC/ASCII Indexes
Co-Star
provides an array of index output options to support a wide variety of
host databases. Depending on the options set within the Co-Star filing
system, indexes can be written in the following formats:
-
Microsoft SQL
Server Tables
-
Any database that
can be defined by an ADO or ODBC source
-
Fixed-format ASCII
text files
-
Comma separated
values (CSV)
-
Random Files
