Point & Shoot OCR TM
Co-Star can provide the ability to translate bit-mapped images
into text. Co-CR is generally used to read a specific region of the image looking for some
piece of information (an address, invoice number or text block, for example). Separate regions
or zones can be defined on a page.
Co-CR now offers new functions that heighten the accuracy and reliability of information
extracted from optically scanned forms and text. In addition, Co-C-R captures and stores more
character information and recognizes text under a wider range of image conditions than other
OCR products.

Co-CR is a powerful function library with a high-level programming interface which controls
the recognition process. This includes recognition operation, session control, and image and
file management. Co-C-R is available on both desktop and workstation computers, giving
developers the freedom to match performance needs on a variety of computer platforms and
operating system environments.
Dual Engine Architecture
OCR technology has been developed by KeyNet, Inc. to provide
fast, intuitive and robust optical character recognition capabilities for users of the Co-Star
document management series of products. "Point and Shoot!" for Coview32 provides these
capabilities within the CoView32 document viewer. Based on the award winning
TextBridge OCR
technology, Point and Shoot! Allows the user to simply highlight the area of interest on an
image, and immediately provides the associated text, in both formatted and unformatted flavors.
This information can be dragged to the viewer's memo-pad, or pasted into other applications.
Not simply an omnifont engine, Co-C-R can be customized to read specialized characters,
languages or symbols (including mark sense) with extremely high accuracy. Co-C-R recognition
can be customized by means of a dedicated font file, or under Windows, through an optional,
interactive "learning" module.
Co-C-R Features
- Automatically reads text from European languages and
draft-mode dot matrix print.
- Zone data typing permits specification of character format
within a zone, for improved recognition and reliability.
- Provides manual and automatic specification of recognition
zones on an image page.
- Recognition vocabulary may be customized to include characters
from Indo-European languages, technical and business disciplines, and degraded
characters.
- An optional learning module for Windows permits on-line
customization of recognition vocabulary.
